Radio Man consists of never before published stories and pictures about the British Merchant Marine seen through the eyes of Ship's Radio Officer Alan Patterson.

Radio Man was compiled from my father's detailed diary and was written in his memory and the memory of all the unsung heroes of World War 2.

Radio Man is unique, in that while it is clearly about daily life in war, it is also something of a travelogue. Radio Man is not something you would expect, but it provides a unique view of the world in war, from the perspective of a man who lived it. Most of the story takes place on the Liverpool-India-Burma run and many of the battles take place in the Eastern theatre. We get a front row seat in Alan's world where there is uncertainty about the final outcome. As ship's Radio Officer, Alan was privy to information that many of the crew were unaware of and he ponders his thoughts and worries in his diary. This is how it was, told by someone who was there. Radio Man is a must for any history buff who wants to know the real story.

I hope you will find Radio Man as interesting and as precious a piece of history as we do.Let Alan's voice be heard, and let people learn about the real history of these brave men of the Merchant Marine.
